Amazon Key: Is it safe?
Amazon Key is a new tool from Amazon available through the latest LiftMaster openers compatible with MyQ. It allows your delivery to be placed inside your garage safely, away from potential “porch pirates”. What Does A Delivery Look Like?
Before arriving at your home for the delivery, Amazon takes two big steps to ensure a safe delivery. Firstly, Amazon vets every driver that takes part in Amazon Key deliveries. Only Amazon employees will be used for Key deliveries. Never will a sub-contracted driver have access to your garage.
Secondly, the driver is unaware that it will be an Amazon Key delivery. This means that a driver with bad intentions wouldn’t be able to make arrangements to prepare to steal from your garage. It’s worth noting that to-date, there hasn’t been any incident of theft because of an Amazon Key delivery.
At arrival, the delivery person is given a one-time access code to your garage door. Without entering your garage, the delivery is placed inside, off to the side of your garage. As the delivery person lets the door down, they give a visual confirmation that the door closed fully without and problems.
What Can I Do For Peace-of-Mind?
If you are worried about the possibility of a theft, there are accessories compatible with your MyQ app and Amazon Key app. A few of these options include an integrated camera and entry door lock that engage and record during a Key delivery. If something was to happen, your camera will pick up any theft that occurs, and your entry door will be locked from the garage to the house.
What If Something Happens During Delivery?
However unlikely, if something happens during an Amazon Key delivery, Amazon gives a guarantee to ensure your happiness. This guarantee, the “Happiness Guarantee”, covers damage to your garage, garage door, or any stolen items. If Amazon will personally review your situation, and work with you to resolve the problem.
